Hyderabad: Panic gripped residents of Manikonda in Hyderabad after a major Manjeera water pipeline suddenly burst, leading to massive water wastage and flooding in nearby localities.
According to eyewitnesses, the pipeline rupture caused water to gush out with tremendous force, quickly turning streets in low-lying areas into streams. Within minutes, roads resembled flowing canals as large volumes of water spread across residential colonies.
The intensity of the flow was so severe that water entered the basements of several houses and apartment complexes. Residents struggled to safeguard their belongings as water inundated cellars and ground floors. Many reported significant inconvenience while attempting to remove vehicles and valuables from submerged areas.

Traffic movement in the locality was badly affected due to waterlogging. Commuters and pedestrians faced considerable difficulties as several roads remained submerged for hours, disrupting normal life.
Upon receiving information about the incident, officials from the Water Board along with technical staff rushed to the spot. The water supply was immediately shut off to prevent further damage and water loss. Authorities stated that emergency repair works have been initiated on a war footing.
However, officials warned that drinking water supply in the area may be temporarily disrupted due to the incident. Meanwhile, local residents have urged the Water Board to undertake regular maintenance of pipelines to prevent such incidents in the future.
