Officials reviewed:
- Progress of Indiramma Housing Scheme implementation
- Status of double-bedroom housing units
- Identification of eligible beneficiaries
- Availability of land for housing construction in urban areas
The government aims to ensure that the Indiramma Housing Plan benefits poor and deserving families across the CORE Urban Region.
Transparency in Selection of Beneficiaries
Minister Ponguleti stressed that beneficiary selection under the Indiramma Housing Scheme must be completely transparent.
Key instructions issued during the meeting included:
- Houses must be allotted only to eligible families
- Officials should not give in to political pressure
- Land should be identified without disturbing the livelihoods of poor residents
Authorities were asked to ensure that the Indiramma Housing Plan in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Sangareddy and Medchal–Malkajgiri districts is implemented fairly.
Action Against Misuse of Double Bedroom Houses
The government has taken serious note of reports that some beneficiaries who received double-bedroom houses are renting them out or keeping them locked for long periods.
Officials have been directed to:
- Issue notices to such beneficiaries
- Allow time until April 30 for clarification
- Cancel allotments if beneficiaries fail to respond
The cancelled houses will be reallocated to deserving families.
Inspections to Begin From May
Officials were also instructed to verify houses allotted under 2BHK and JNNURM housing schemes.
From May 1, authorities will conduct inspections to identify cases where beneficiaries are not residing in the houses allotted to them.
Beneficiaries responding to notices must submit an undertaking on bond paper confirming that they will live in the houses.
Infrastructure Facilities in Housing Colonies
Minister Ponguleti also directed officials to ensure basic infrastructure in housing colonies across the four districts.
Facilities to be provided include:
- Electricity connections
- Drinking water supply
- Drainage systems
With support from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), officials were instructed to install electricity meters for 22,000 houses on priority.
Completion of Pending Double Bedroom Housing Towers
Authorities were also directed to complete unfinished double-bedroom housing towers quickly and allocate completed units to eligible beneficiaries.
Commercial complexes built in housing colonies will be auctioned instead of rented, and the revenue will be deposited in a joint account of the housing society and the government.
The meeting reviewing the Indiramma Housing Plan chaired by Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy with participation from Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammad Azharuddin was attended by Housing Department Secretary and MD V.P. Gautam, along with district collectors and senior officials.
