Mumbai: Stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, known for his journey from a humble background to becoming a prominent figure in the comedy scene, has tied the knot for the second time.
The 32-year-old comedian, who was born in Junagadh, Gujarat, recently married Mehzabeen Coatwala, a makeup artist from the Memon community, in a private ceremony at ITC Maratha, Mumbai.
The secret wedding was confirmed by a close family member to FinancialExpress.com. Mehzabeen Coatwala resides in Agripada, Mumbai Central, South Mumbai. The couple’s marriage, which took place around 10 to 12 days ago, was followed by a wedding reception on Sunday. It remains unclear whether their union is a love marriage or an arranged one.
Munawar Faruqui’s life story is one of resilience and determination. He left school after the fifth grade to support his family financially following his mother’s tragic suicide when he was a teenager. His father, Iqbal Faruqui, worked as a driver, and Munawar has three sisters, including Shabana.
In 2017, Munawar married Jasmine, with whom he has a five-year-old son. However, the couple divorced in 2022. Munawar’s personal life has been marked by controversies, including accusations of cheating from his ex-girlfriends Ayesha Khan and Nazila Sitashi.
Despite the challenges, Munawar has continued to pursue his passion for comedy, performing stand-up gigs across Gujarat and gaining popularity for his relatable and humorous take on life. His recent marriage to Mehzabeen Coatwala marks a new chapter in his life, both personally and professionally.
