New Cold Wave to Hit Telangana, Temperature May Drop to 3°C in These Areas

A strong cold wave is set to hit Telangana, and temperatures may drop to as low as 3°C in several northern districts by December 15. IMD warns residents to stay prepared as chilly weather intensifies across Hyderabad and surrounding regions.

Munsif News 24×7: Telangana is bracing for a sharp rise in winter intensity as a strong cold wave is expected to sweep across the state starting Friday, December 5. According to early forecasts, the cold conditions will gradually intensify over the next several days.

Weather experts warn that between December 10 and December 15, Telangana may witness a dangerous and severe cold wave, with minimum temperatures dropping to 3–4°C in certain regions. This level of temperature is considered extremely low for the state, prompting authorities to urge residents to take precautionary measures.

Hyderabad and Nearby Districts to See a Significant Drop

Recent weather reports indicate that several key districts in Telangana, including Hyderabad, will experience colder-than-usual conditions.

Forecasters noted that minimum temperatures are expected to hover between 11°C and 15°C in:

  • Hyderabad
  • Rangareddy
  • Medchal–Malkajgiri
  • Medak
  • Vikarabad
  • Bhongir

Last week, Hyderabad recorded minimum temperatures above 15°C. However, from Friday through Monday, a clear drop is expected, leading to noticeably chilly weather conditions across the city. Northern Telangana to Witness Even Colder Nights

The Meteorological Department added that northern Telangana districts are likely to experience more intense cold compared to other parts of the state. These include:

  • Adilabad
  • Komaram Bheem Asifabad
  • Nirmal

In these regions, temperatures may fall close to the lowest levels of the season, making this cold wave one of the strongest of the year.

Important Advisory for Residents

Authorities have urged citizens to follow essential precautions as the cold wave approaches:

  • Wear warm clothing, especially during late-night and early-morning hours
  • Take special care of infants, elderly people, and those with health issues
  • Avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during the night

This upcoming cold wave is being considered the strongest phase of December’s winter across Telangana.
