Owaisi Rejects BJP Funding Allegations, Targets Trinamool Ahead of West Bengal Elections

Owaisi denies BJP funding allegations against AIMIM in West Bengal elections and targets Trinamool Congress, intensifying political tensions ahead of polls.

In a major political development ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly denied allegations made by the Trinamool Congress that his party is receiving funding from the BJP to contest in minority-dominated constituencies.

Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Owaisi dismissed the claims as baseless and politically motivated.

Sharp Response to Trinamool Congress Claims

Reacting to the allegations, Owaisi said:

  • He is willing to hand over 90% of the alleged funding to Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee
  • He would keep only 5% for himself
  • The remaining 5% would go to Humayun Kabir

His remarks came during a joint appearance with Humayun Kabir, who recently launched his own political party.

AIMIM Alliance and Election Strategy in West Bengal

Owaisi highlighted that:

  • AIMIM has formed an alliance with Aam Aadmi Unnayan Party (AAUP)
  • The alliance will contest in multiple constituencies
  • Focus will remain on minority-dominated seats

He made it clear that AIMIM is contesting based on its own strength and political vision.

Owaisi Questions BJP’s Rise in West Bengal

Countering the allegations, Owaisi questioned:

  • Whether AIMIM was responsible for BJP’s growth in the state
  • BJP’s rise from 3 seats in 2016 to 77 seats in 2021

He asked if his party played any role in this increase, rejecting the narrative that AIMIM helps the BJP.

Accusations Against Trinamool and Mamata Banerjee

Owaisi also targeted the ruling party:

  • Accused Trinamool Congress of exploiting minority voters
  • Claimed that despite repeated victories, minorities remain deprived in West Bengal
  • Criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for not doing enough for minority welfare

Political War Heats Up Before Elections

The Owaisi BJP funding allegation row in West Bengal elections has intensified political tensions. With AIMIM entering the electoral fray and forming alliances, the upcoming elections are expected to witness a sharp contest, especially in minority-dominated constituencies.
