Chinese scientists have said that there is a serious threat to health from talking on cell phones. They have warned that people who talk on mobile phones for more than 30 minutes a week have a 12% increased risk of high blood pressure. Worldwide, 3/4 of the population over the age of 10 use a cell phone.
The devices emit low levels of radio frequency energy, the scientists said. If they are exposed for a long time, blood pressure may increase. High blood pressure can also be a major cause of heart attack and stroke. It is causing many premature deaths worldwide.
Scientists have reviewed data from the UK Biobank on 200,000 people between the ages of 37 and 73. The data of how long these people talk on the cell phone was also taken. When examined 12 years later, 7 percent had high blood pressure. Among those who talked on the phone for half an hour a week, 12 percent developed high blood pressure.
Scientists have revealed that the risk of high blood pressure can be increase by 13% in those who talk for 1 to 3 hours and by 16% in those who talk for more than 1 to 3 hours.
