Former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was questioned by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on February 1 in connection with the phone tapping case. The questioning is taking place at his Nandinagar residence in Hyderabad, where an on-camera investigation is underway.

A five-member SIT team is conducting the probe on the second floor of the house, while tight police security has been arranged in and around the area.
Emotional Address to Party Leaders Before Inquiry
Before facing the SIT, KCR held a lunch meeting with party leaders at his residence. During the interaction, the BRS chief became emotional and recalled his role in the Telangana separate state movement.
He told leaders that he had “breathed life into the Telangana movement” from the same house and spent many sleepless nights there planning strategies for statehood. KCR said it was painful and unfortunate that he was now facing an investigation in the very same room where plans for Telangana’s formation were once prepared.
“Never Imagined Facing a Probe in This House”
Addressing party members, KCR said he never imagined that he would have to face a trial or inquiry in his Nandinagar residence. He recalled interacting with countless people in that room during the movement and said the moment was deeply emotional for him.
Tight Security at Nandinagar Residence
In view of the SIT questioning, Hyderabad police imposed strict security arrangements near KCR’s residence. Barricades were set up and police personnel were deployed to prevent any untoward incidents during the inquiry.
BRS Leaders Already Questioned by SIT
Earlier, the SIT had questioned several senior leaders in the same case, including:
- KT Rama Rao
- Harish Rao
- Former MP Santosh Rao
The investigation is progressing as part of the larger probe into alleged phone tapping during the previous government.
Protests by BRS Cadres Across Telangana
Following the summoning of KCR by the SIT, BRS cadres staged protests at various locations across Telangana. Police swiftly intervened, intercepted the protesters, and arrested several party workers to maintain law and order.
