New Delhi: India solemnly observed Martyrs’ Day (Shaheed Diwas) to honor Mahatma Gandhi and those who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with several prominent political leaders, paid heartfelt tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary.

The Father of the Nation, known for his philosophy of truth, non-violence, and self-reliance, continues to inspire millions worldwide.

Remembering Mahatma Gandhi on His Death Anniversary

Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on January 30, 1948. Since then, this day has been observed annually as Martyrs’ Day to commemorate his invaluable contributions to India’s freedom struggle and his relentless pursuit of justice and harmony.

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi shared his tribute, stating:
“Tributes to Pujya Bapu on his Punya Tithi. His ideals motivate us to build a developed India. I also pay tributes to all those martyred for our nation and recall their service as well as sacrifices.”

Leaders Pay Homage to the Father of the Nation

BJP President J.P. Nadda’s Tribute

Union Minister and BJP President J.P. Nadda also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing his vision of self-reliance and its impact on India’s progress.

“I pay my heartfelt tribute to the eternal worshiper of truth and non-violence, the great leader of the Indian freedom movement, ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary.

Bapu’s ideas centered on Swadeshi and self-reliance are paving the way for an Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat. His life ideals will always inspire humanity,” Nadda posted on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Reflection

Union Home Minister Amit Shah acknowledged Gandhi’s role in unifying the nation and spreading Indian values globally.

“On behalf of the grateful nation, I pay my tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the leading figure of the Indian freedom movement, who popularized the Indian values of truth, non-violence, and the fight against injustice across the world, on his death anniversary.”

Shah further noted, “Mahatma Gandhi strengthened the freedom movement by binding the country in the thread of unity. His thoughts on cleanliness, self-reliance, and the empowerment of rural India will continue to inspire the countrymen.”

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju’s Message

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also paid homage to Gandhi’s teachings of non-violence and moral integrity.

“Respectful tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, a worshiper of truth, non-violence, and harmony, on his death anniversary! He strengthened the foundation of the freedom struggle by inspiring people against British colonialism. Mahatma Gandhi taught humanity and morality to the whole world,” Rijiju wrote on X.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath’s Tribute

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid his respects, emphasizing Gandhi’s vision of peace and national unity.

“Tribute to the great leader of the freedom movement, ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi, on his death anniversary. The teachings of revered ‘Bapu’ and his life of sacrifice pave the way for world peace.”

He further urged citizens to honor Gandhi’s legacy by committing to nation-building, stating: “Come, let us all resolve to build a ‘Naya Bharat-Viksit Bharat’ by following the path of truth, non-violence, and Swadeshi shown by ‘Bapu’.”
