Police Seize 191 Banned Chinese Manja Bobbins in Hyderabad, Two Arrested in Yakuthpura
Hyderabad police arrested two persons and seized 191 banned Chinese manja bobbins worth ₹1.91 lakh in Yakuthpura. The accused were caught selling illegal kite strings.
Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on the illegal sale of banned kite strings, the Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone team, arrested two accused persons and seized 191 bobbins of glass-coated nylon Chinese manja worth ₹1.91 lakh in Yakuthpura area of Hyderabad.

The operation was carried out on January 14, 2026, near the backside of Murtuza Chaman, Yakuthpura, under the limits of Rein Bazar Police Station.
Accused Caught While Selling Banned Chinese Manja
Police officials said the accused were caught red-handed while selling the banned manja bobbins. The arrested persons have been identified as:
- Hussain Agha (37), resident of Yakuthpura
- Syed Saddiq Hussain Jaffery (35), a Zomato delivery executive from Edi Bazar
Another accused, Ramzan, a resident of Mumbai, who allegedly supplied the banned manja, is currently absconding.
191 Bobbins Seized Worth ₹1.91 Lakh
During the raid, police seized:
- 191 bobbins of Mono Gold glass-coated nylon Chinese manja
- Estimated market value of ₹1,91,000
Officials said the accused were selling each bobbin at ₹1,000 to make quick illegal profits.
How the Illegal Network Operated
According to the investigation:
- Hussain Agha managed his father’s business and procured Chinese manja from Ramzan
- Syed Saddiq Hussain Jaffery worked under him and assisted in sales
- The banned material was illegally stocked and sold to customers in Hyderabad
Police believe the racket was operating to meet high demand during the kite-flying season.
Chinese Manja Ban and Legal Provisions
The Government of Telangana has imposed a complete ban on the procurement, storage, sale, and use of Chinese manja (nylon thread) to protect human life and birds.

- Ban imposed in January 2016
- Enforced under Section 5 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986
- Punishment includes up to 5 years imprisonment, or fine up to ₹1 lakh, or both
Case Handed Over for Further Action
The arrested accused along with the seized material have been handed over to the SHO, Rein Bazar Police Station, for further legal proceedings. Police said efforts are on to trace and arrest the absconding supplier.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior task force officials, who reiterated that strict action will continue against those endangering public safety by selling banned Chinese manja.
