Ponnam Prabhakar Orders Clean & Green Gurukul Schools, Announces BC Study Circles Committee and July 16 Caste Occupations Fair

Telangana BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar directed officials to maintain Clean & Green Gurukuls, strengthen BC Study Circles, expand skill development, and organise the Caste Occupations Fair from July 16.

Hyderabad: Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar directed officials to maintain Clean & Green environments in Gurukul schools and hostels and ensure there is no compromise in implementing the government-approved menu. During a review meeting with senior BC Welfare Department officials at the Secretariat, he also ordered the formation of a special committee to strengthen BC Study Circles and announced that the Caste Occupations Fair will begin on July 16 at HMDA Grounds with equal opportunities for all communities.

Clean & Green Environment in Gurukuls and Hostels

The minister reviewed the implementation of decisions taken during the previous review meeting, held after 20 days of the reopening of Gurukul schools and hostels.

He instructed officials to ensure that all Gurukuls and hostels remain clean, green, and hygienic.

He also directed that the government-approved menu must be implemented in all Gurukul institutions and hostels without any compromise.

Student Welfare Must Be the Top Priority

Ponnam Prabhakar said District BC Welfare Officers (DBCWOs) should discharge their duties with discipline and give the highest priority to student welfare.

He also asked public representatives to visit Gurukul schools and hostels regularly and personally review the conditions of students.

Special Committee to Strengthen BC Study Circles

To improve the quality of BC Study Circles, the minister directed officials to constitute a special committee.

The committee will focus on strengthening:

  • Civil Services coaching
  • Vocational training
  • Skill development programmes

He instructed officials to study successful BC Study Circle models in Delhi and Ahmedabad and implement suitable practices in Telangana.

July 16 Caste Occupations Fair at HMDA Grounds

The minister directed officials to ensure equal opportunities for traditional artisans from all communities during the Caste Occupations Fair, which will begin on July 16 at the HMDA Grounds.

He also instructed officials to prepare comprehensive guidelines for implementing the Sewing Machine Scheme to promote the economic self-reliance of women.

Skill Development and Economic Support for BCs

Ponnam Prabhakar instructed the BC Welfare Department to expand skill development programmes to create more employment opportunities for BC communities.

He also directed officials to conduct a comprehensive study on Economic Support Schemes and prepare proposals for their implementation.

Report Sought on Laptop Distribution

The minister asked officials to submit a detailed report on the distribution of laptops to Gurukul students who secured seats in Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institutes of Management.

He further instructed the BC Welfare Commissioner and the Gurukul Secretary to conduct surprise inspections of Gurukul schools and hostels to ensure students are receiving quality facilities.

The minister also directed officials to immediately complete the distribution of kits in districts where trainees who completed Katamayya Rakshana Kavacham training have not yet received them.
