Prophet remark row: BJP’s councilor Tabassum Mirza resigns

Expressing regret on being a member of the party she said that the party failed to control its functionaries who have been criticising her "Nabi".

Rajasthan: Tabassum Mirza, BJP’s councillor has resigned from the party in protest against the derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by expelled party spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

Tabassum is the councillor from ward number 14 of Kota Municipal Corporation, South. Sending her resignation letter to party’s state unit chief Satish Poonia and Kota district president Krishan Kumar Soni on Monday, 13 June, she mentioned the reason behind her resignation.

In her letter Mirza stated that she is resigning from the primary membership of the party as it is not possible for her to continue to work with the party in the ongoing circumstances.

Mirza joined BJP around 10 years ago. Expressing regret on being a member of the party she said that the party failed to control its functionaries who have been criticising her “Nabi”.
