A rat’s head was discovered inside a lunch box at a hospital canteen, causing widespread criticism and discussion on food safety in China.
Chinese media reported on Wednesday that this incident marked the second occurrence within a month, igniting concerns among the public. The state media revealed that the rat’s head was found in the canteen of a traditional Chinese medicine hospital located in Shivshan County.
Local media sources stated that the hospital claimed their canteen services were outsourced to third-party vendors through government tenders and emphasized that such an incident had never taken place before.
In a separate incident on June 1, a student from Nanchang’s Jiangxi Industry Polytechnic College shared a video showing an object resembling teeth, eyes, and a nose found in rice at the college’s canteen, as reported by the South China Morning Post.
