CM Revanth Reddy Slams BRS Over ‘Father of the Nation’ Claim, Political Heat Rises in Telangana

Telangana politics heats up as CM Revanth Reddy slams BRS over projecting KCR as Father of the Nation, with Harish Rao hitting back ahead of municipal elections.

Hyderabad: Telangana politics has witnessed a fresh political storm as the debate over the “Father of the Nation” remark triggered sharp exchanges between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy strongly criticised the BRS for projecting K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) as the “Father of the Telangana Nation,” sparking a heated war of words ahead of the municipal elections.

Revanth Reddy Slams BRS Over ‘Father of the Nation’ Claim

Speaking at an election rally in Miryalaguda, the Chief Minister questioned the BRS narrative and expressed anger over what he called misleading propaganda.

“Will those who do such things become the Father of the Nation?” Revanth Reddy asked, taking a direct swipe at KCR and the BRS leadership.

He further remarked that people who allegedly monitored others’ phone calls cannot be glorified with such titles.

‘Sonia Is the Goddess of Telangana,’ Says CM

During the same rally, Revanth Reddy stated that:

  • Sonia Gandhi should be remembered as the “Goddess of Telangana”
  • K Jayashankar was the true Father figure of the Telangana movement, having dedicated his life for the cause

The Chief Minister emphasised that Telangana statehood was achieved through collective struggle and sacrifice, not by one individual alone.

Harish Rao Hits Back at Revanth Reddy

Reacting sharply, former minister Harish Rao issued a strong counter to the Chief Minister’s remarks.

“Does Revanth Reddy even understand what ‘Father of the Nation’ means?” Harish Rao asked, defending KCR’s role in the Telangana movement.

He asserted that KCR has a long history of sacrifices for Telangana and questioned whether Revanth Reddy had ever fought for the state during the movement.

Political Temperature Rises Before Municipal Polls

The exchange has further heated up Telangana politics, with both the ruling party and the opposition trading sharp statements. Political observers believe that:

  • The “Father of the Nation” issue may dominate election speeches
  • The controversy could intensify as municipal elections draw closer
  • Both sides are using the debate to mobilise voters emotionally

With municipal elections just days away, the war of words between Congress and BRS over the “Father of the Nation” remark has added fuel to the political fire in Telangana. The issue is expected to remain a major talking point as campaigning enters its final phase.
