Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ganguly urged her fellow Indian celebrities, influencers, and travelers to reconsider their trips to Turkey. “Can we please cancel our bookings for Turkey. This is my request to all Indian Celebs/Influencers/Travellers. This is the least we can do as Indians. #BoycottTurkey,” she posted.
Growing Support for the Boycott
Her statement quickly gained traction online, with many users applauding her patriotic stance. Comments poured in supporting the initiative, including calls for Indian airlines to suspend operations to Turkey. One user wrote, “If we’re serious about standing against terror, Indigo and all Indian airlines must immediately suspend flights to Turkey.”
Television actor Kushal Tandon also joined the sentiment. He revealed that his mother, Sandhya Tandon, had canceled her upcoming trip to Turkey despite incurring financial losses due to non-refundable bookings. “Do your bits,” he wrote on Instagram.

Why Is Turkey Being Boycotted?
The boycott call stems from Turkey and Azerbaijan’s recent statements in support of Pakistan following India’s targeted airstrikes on terror hubs in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called India’s move a “provocative step,” while Azerbaijan expressed condolences for casualties allegedly caused by the strikes.
These statements have ignited backlash across Indian social media, with the hashtags #BoycottTurkey and #SupportIndianForces trending nationwide. Critics argue that any financial engagement with countries opposing India’s security interests should be reconsidered.
What Is Operation Sindoor?
Operation Sindoor, launched by India earlier this month, was a major counter-terrorism strike targeting militant camps across the border. The Indian government stated that the operation was a precision mission to neutralize threats to national security, particularly following recent escalations in terrorist activities.
With celebrities like Rupali Ganguly and Kushal Tandon speaking out, the call to boycott Turkey is gaining momentum. As international relations tighten and patriotic sentiments surge, this boycott could set a precedent for how India responds to foreign nations’ diplomatic stances.
