Interfaith Marriage at the Root of Family Conflict
Police investigations revealed that Ambesh, an engineer by profession, had married a Muslim woman from Kolkata five years ago. The couple has two children. However, Ambesh’s parents were strongly opposed to the interfaith marriage and reportedly refused to accept their daughter-in-law.
Family sources said the parents repeatedly pressured Ambesh to divorce his wife, leading to frequent disputes inside the house.
Financial Dispute Escalates the Tension
Recently, Ambesh decided to separate from his wife, after which she allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh as maintenance. Police say Ambesh returned to his native village three months ago and began pressuring his parents to arrange the money, resulting in daily quarrels.
How the Crime Was Executed
On December 8, during a heated argument over money:
- Ambesh allegedly attacked his mother Babita with a heavy grinding stone, killing her on the spot
- When his father Shyam Bahadur tried to raise an alarm, Ambesh reportedly struck him multiple times, killing him as well
After the murders, police say the accused showed extreme brutality by:
- Cutting the bodies into pieces using a saw
- Packing the remains into cement bags
- Transporting them by car and dumping them into a nearby river
Attempt to Mislead Family and Police
Following the crime, Ambesh allegedly called his sister Vandana, claiming that their parents had gone missing after a quarrel and that he was searching for them. He then switched off his mobile phone.
Suspicious of the sudden disappearance of both parents and her brother, Vandana filed a missing complaint on December 13 at Jafarabad Police Station.
Police Arrest Accused After Confession
Police grew suspicious due to Ambesh’s behavior and mobile phone shutdown. When he returned to Jaunpur on December 14, relatives alerted the police.
After being taken into custody and questioned:
- Ambesh initially tried to mislead investigators
- Later confessed to the murders
Police recovered:
- The grinding stone used in the killings
- The saw used to dismember the bodies
Officials confirmed that one body part has been recovered from the river, while a search operation with divers is ongoing to trace the remaining remains.
