Hyderabad: With the decision to remove the historic symbols of Charminar and Kakatiya Kala Thoranam from Telangana emblem facing criticism from all quarters, the State government has decided to postpone its schedule of unveiling new emblem.

Officials stated that as more than 200 suggestions have been received, the State government has decided to hold more consultations and its proposed schedule of unveiling new emblem has been postponed.

At first, it was decided to release the new emblem along with the State anthem on Telangana’s Formation Day on June 2. However, the government sources said that only the new Anthem will be released on the Formation Day.

The State Cabinet has decided to remove the Kakatiya Thoranam and Charminar from the existing emblem, dubbing it as a symbol of anarchy, and to design the emblem in the new format.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy already held discussions about the new symbol of Telangana State with artist Rudra Rajesham and examined many samples.

He also made several suggestions on final model, reflecting the people, public life, democracy, spirit of Telangana movement, sacrifice of martyrs etc.

However, with the State government receiving more suggestions and also facing criticism from various quarters on its hasty decision, the launch of new emblem has been postponed.
