Himachal Pradesh Invites Proposals for Hydroelectric Projects
The Himachal Pradesh government recently called for proposals for 22 hydroelectric projects under the BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer) scheme. In response, a team from Telangana’s power department visited Himachal Pradesh to study the proposals and express interest in projects with a capacity of more than 100 MW.

Discussions with Himachal Pradesh CM
Mallu stated that necessary action would be taken once the Himachal Pradesh government signs and sends the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). In this regard, he met with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Delhi on Thursday, alongside senior officials from both states.
Telangana Officials’ Visit to Hydroelectric Projects
During their visit to Himachal Pradesh, Telangana officials met with the Himachal Pradesh Power Secretary and visited two major hydroelectric projects—the SELI Hydroelectric Project (400 MW) and the MIYAR Hydroelectric Project (120 MW). After evaluating the projects, the Telangana team recommended participation in projects exceeding 100 MW capacity.
Formal Submission of Interest for Hydroelectric Projects
Following these developments, Deputy CM Mallu, along with Telangana Principal Secretary (Power) Sandeep Kumar Sultania, met Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Delhi. During the meeting, Telangana officially submitted a letter of interest for the SELI (400 MW) and MIYAR (120 MW) hydroelectric projects. Mallu also urged the Himachal Pradesh CM to expedite the draft MoU, assuring that Telangana would proceed with the agreement promptly after due consideration.
Strengthening Telangana’s Power Supply
Once operational, the hydroelectric power from these projects will be supplied to Telangana, significantly strengthening the state’s power supply and fulfilling both current and future energy demands.
