Telangana Govt to Form Committee on Power Sector Employee Issues, Bhatti Vikramarka

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the government will form a committee of senior officials to resolve power sector employee issues.

The decision was taken after a meeting with leaders of the Electricity Employees Joint Action Committee (JAC) at Praja Bhavan on Sunday.

No Privatisation of DISCOMs, Assures Bhatti Vikramarka

During the meeting, JAC leaders raised concerns over rumours of privatisation of power distribution companies (DISCOMs).

Responding firmly, Bhatti Vikramarka clarified:

  • DISCOMs will not be privatised under any circumstances
  • Employees should counter false propaganda
  • Government remains committed to strengthening the power sector

Key Issues Raised by Electricity Employees JAC

The Electricity Employees Joint Action Committee submitted a memorandum highlighting several demands:

  • Establishment of a third DISCOM
  • Employee adjustments
  • Implementation of 2026 PRC (Pay Revision Commission)
  • Restoration of old pension scheme (for employees recruited up to 2004)
  • Regular promotions and recruitments
  • Resolution of artisan-related issues

Monthly Meetings and 1912 Helpline Focus

The Deputy Chief Minister directed that:

  • Senior officials should meet employee unions for one hour every month
  • Issues should be resolved through regular dialogue

He also stressed the importance of addressing public grievances:

  • Complaints received via 1912 power helpline must be resolved promptly
  • Power utilities should ensure efficient service delivery
