Hyderabad: TSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director VC Sajjanar has informed that PAN card is not accepted for free bus travel facility in Telangana.

‘As there is no address on the PAN card, it is not valid for free bus travel. If someone shows PAN card, they will have to purchase the ticket in the buses,” he clarified.

On December 9, 2023, the State government launched Maha Lakshmi Scheme – free bus ride for girls, women and transgender persons in TSRTC buses. So far, over 6.50 crore of the Mahalakshmi scheme’s zero-fare tickets have been issued since the launch of the scheme.

On the occasion, VC Sajjanar on Monday made few suggestions to the women travelling on the RTC buses stating that the original identity card is mandatory to avail ‘Maha Lakshmi scheme in Telangana.

He said the women passengers should carry original identity card while traveling on the buses and the passenger’s photograph and address should be clearly visible in the identity card.

The TSRTC MD further stated that any original identity card issued by the Central and State governments is applicable for the Maha Lakshmi scheme.

In a release, he also clarified that the RTC conductors would not accept showing photocopies and color Xeroxes on the smart phones and the women passengers must carry original identity cards while traveling on the buses.
