Telangana Schools to Function Half-Day from March 16 to April 23 Due to Rising Heat

Hyderabad: In view of the rising temperatures and intense heat across the state, the Telangana Education Department has announced that all schools will function for half a day from March 16 to April 23.

According to the new schedule, all government and private schools across Telangana will operate from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM during this period.

In schools run by the government and local bodies, students will be served the midday meal at 12:30 PM, after which they will be sent home.

However, in schools where Class 10 board examination centres have been set up, the teaching schedule will be different. Since the SSC examinations will be conducted in the morning session, regular classes in these schools will be held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

In such government schools, students will first be provided with the midday meal and then classes will commence in the afternoon session. Once the examinations conclude, these schools will return to the regular half-day schedule from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

Meanwhile, the summer vacation will begin from April 24 and continue until June 11 after the completion of the academic year. The new academic year 2026–27 is scheduled to start on June 12 across the state.
