Telangana Swimmers Shivani Karra and Vritti Agarwal Honoured by Jayesh Ranjan

Hyderabad: Telangana’s rising swimming stars Shivani Karra and Vritti Agarwal were felicitated by Telangana Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan at the State Secretariat on Wednesday in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the sport.
Congratulating the athletes, Jayesh Ranjan praised their performances and said their achievements have brought pride to Telangana. He expressed happiness over Shivani Karra’s selection to represent India at the 12th Asian Age Group Swimming Championships 2026, which will be held in Bangkok.
He also commended Vritti Agarwal for her exceptional performance at the 79th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2026 held in Ahmedabad.

Vritti delivered an impressive performance by winning the gold medal in the 400m freestyle, silver medal in the 800m freestyle, and bronze medal in the 1500m freestyle. She also created a new National Record and Best Indian Performance in the 800m freestyle by clocking 9:05.47, surpassing the 15-year-old national record set by Richa Mishra in 2011.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sonibala Devi, Managing Director of the Sports Authority of Telangana, congratulated both swimmers and wished them continued success as they represent Telangana and India at national and international competitions.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by Umesh, Secretary of the Telangana Swimming Association, coach Ayush Yadav, and other officials.
The State Government acknowledged the achievements of both swimmers and expressed confidence that their success would inspire young sportspersons across Telangana to pursue excellence in competitive swimming.
