Telangana to Send 642 km Road Proposal Under PMGSY Phase IV to Centre

Telangana plans to send a proposal for 642 km of roads under PMGSY Phase IV to the Centre, targeting 227 habitations lacking proper road connectivity.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to send a proposal for constructing 642 km of roads under PMGSY Phase IV, aiming to improve road connectivity in 227 habitations that currently lack proper access.

The proposal will be submitted to the central government as part of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Phase IV, a key scheme focused on strengthening rural infrastructure.


State-Level Meeting on PMGSY Phase IV

The decision was taken during a meeting of the State Level Standing Committee held at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by K Ramakrishna Rao, Chief Secretary of Telangana, along with senior officials, including Vikas Raj and N Sridhar.


Focus on Unconnected Habitations

Officials discussed the need to improve road access in rural and remote areas.

Key points highlighted in the meeting:

  • 642.23 km of new roads proposed
  • 227 habitations to benefit across Telangana
  • Roads aimed at areas with no proper connectivity
  • Proposal to be sent under PMGSY Phase IV

The Chief Secretary noted that all road and bridge works approved under the first three phases of PMGSY have been completed.


Forest Clearance Needed for Some Projects

Out of the total proposed road length:

  • 148 km of road work requires clearance from the Forest Department
  • These works are spread across 34 projects
  • Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for bridge constructions will be finalised within one week, officials said

Boost to Rural Connectivity in Telangana

The 642 km PMGSY road proposal in Telangana is expected to significantly improve:

  • Rural connectivity
  • Access to markets, schools, and healthcare
  • Overall development in remote habitations
