Telangana Govt Warns Against Illegal Use of ‘PRESS’, HRC and Government Symbols on Vehicles

Telangana government warns against illegal use of PRESS, HRC, advocate and government symbols on vehicles, saying strict action will be taken as per High Court orders.

Hyderabad: The Government of Telangana has issued a strong warning against the unauthorised and misleading use of ‘PRESS’, HRC-related titles, advocate symbols, and government emblems on vehicles, stating that strict action will be taken against violators as per High Court orders.

The advisory was issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Hyderabad, to curb misuse of official symbols and prevent impersonation.

Strict Enforcement as per High Court Orders

According to the notice, strict enforcement will be carried out across Telangana against vehicles displaying unauthorised stickers, flags, seals, names, or logos linked to:

  • PRESS
  • Human Rights (HRC)
  • Advocate
  • Government departments or emblems

The move aims to prevent misuse of authority and false representation on public roads.

Only Accredited Media Can Use ‘PRESS’ on Vehicles

The Telangana government has clarified that only journalists accredited by DIPR are permitted to use the term “PRESS” on their vehicles.

  • Non-accredited individuals are strictly prohibited from displaying PRESS stickers
  • Misuse may attract charges related to impersonation and legal violations

Illegal Use of Emblems and Stickers Prohibited

The notice clearly states that the illegal use of flags, emblems, seals, logos, and special nameplates on vehicles is banned. Authorities have also been instructed to regulate:

  • Vehicle registration marks
  • Number plate formats
  • Unauthorised fonts, colours, or designs

Public Advised to Follow Vehicle Display Rules

Officials warned that any unauthorised display of government-related symbols could lead to legal action, including seizure of materials and prosecution under relevant laws.

The government has urged citizens to strictly follow vehicle display regulations and avoid placing misleading identifiers that suggest official status.

Aim to Prevent Impersonation and Misuse

The Telangana government’s enforcement drive is aimed at preventing impersonation, misuse of authority, and ensuring transparency on public roads. Enforcement agencies have been directed to take immediate action wherever violations are noticed.

The advisory serves as a clear reminder that unauthorised use of PRESS or government symbols on vehicles is illegal and punishable.
