TIMS Sanath Nagar to Be Ready Soon: Health Minister Reviews 1,000-Bed Hospital Works in Hyderabad

Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha reviews works at TIMS Sanath Nagar in Hyderabad. The 1,000-bed hospital with cardiac and organ transplant facilities to be ready by Ugadi.

Damodar Rajanarasimha, Telangana State Medical and Health Minister, on Thursday held a high-level review meeting at the Aarogyasri Trust office in Hyderabad to assess the progress of works at TIMS Sanath Nagar. The review focused on hospital infrastructure, medical equipment, staffing, and technology integration ahead of the hospital’s commissioning.

Senior Officials Attend Review Meeting

The meeting was attended by key health department officials, including:

  • Christina Z. Chongthu, Principal Secretary (Health)
  • Sangeetha Satyanarayana, Family Welfare Commissioner
  • Narendra Kumar, Director of Medical Education (DME)
  • Phanindra Reddy, MD, TGMSIDC

1,000-Bed Hospital Nears Completion

Officials informed the Minister that infrastructure development at TIMS Sanath Nagar, a 1,000-bed hospital, is nearing completion. Key highlights include:

  • 16 fully equipped critical operation theatres
  • OP rooms, inpatient departments, wards, ICUs ready
  • Installation completed for CT scan, MRI and digital X-ray machines
  • Diagnostic equipment installation in progress

The Minister directed officials to complete all pending works and equipment installation by the second week of March and ensure that staff and technicians are fully trained before opening.

Centre of Excellence for Cardiac Care and Organ Transplant

The Health Minister reiterated his vision to develop TIMS Sanath Nagar as a Centre of Excellence for Cardiac Care and Organ Transplantation.

  • Cathlabs are in the final stages of setup
  • Organ Transplant Operation Theatres are ready for trial runs
  • Facility will be capable of handling all types of cardiac and organ transplant surgeries

Reducing Burden on Major Hospitals

The Minister said TIMS Sanath Nagar will significantly reduce patient load on:

  • NIMS
  • Osmania General Hospital
  • Gandhi Hospital

He advised that patients waiting for months for surgeries should be referred to TIMS Sanath Nagar to ensure faster treatment, with coordination among hospital superintendents.

Focus on Staffing and Non-Medical Services

The Minister reviewed recruitment plans for:

  • Professors and specialist doctors
  • Nursing and paramedical staff

Until full staffing is completed, services of senior doctors from DME and NIMS will be utilized. He also stressed strengthening non-medical services:

  • Sanitation
  • Security
  • Patient care services

A DME-led committee has already studied best practices from corporate hospitals, NIMS and AIIMS, and the Minister directed officials to implement these standards at TIMS.

Technology-Driven Patient Services

To improve patient experience, the Minister suggested:

  • End-to-end patient services through e-HMIS software, from OP registration to discharge
  • Setting up a centralised kitchen to provide quality food to patients and attendants

All minor pending works must be completed by March 15, and the hospital should be ready for commissioning by Ugadi.

With advanced infrastructure, modern technology and specialised care, TIMS Sanath Nagar is set to become a major healthcare hub in Hyderabad, easing pressure on existing hospitals and improving patient access to quality treatment.
