Hyderabad: A serious Gachibowli road accident created panic after a Benz car hit a traffic constable on duty and dragged him near the IIIT junction. Police quickly registered cases and arrested the accused driver following complaints related to the incident.

The accident occurred within the Gachibowli police station limits, raising concerns over reckless driving.

How the Accident Happened

According to police details:

• Around 10:30 AM, the Benz car first hit another vehicle at Nanakramguda
• The car driven by Rahul Kamaraju lost control and crashed into a divider
• The accused then sped towards ORR Gachibowli

A case was registered for negligent driving under relevant legal provisions.

Traffic Constable Hit While on Duty

In a second complaint, a traffic constable on duty signalled the vehicle to stop after the earlier collision. However:

• The driver allegedly accelerated instead of stopping
• The car struck the constable and he fell onto the bonnet
• The vehicle continued moving in a zig-zag manner

The driver was eventually stopped with the help of other motorists on the road.

Drunken Driving Confirmed

Police conducted a breath and blood test which revealed:

• Blood alcohol content: 160 mg/100 ml
• The level was far above the legal permissible limit

Additional cases were registered under relevant sections of the law and the Motor Vehicles Act.
