UP Govt. Faces Backlash from Muslim Bodies Over Halal Certification Ban

Muslim organizations criticize the Uttar Pradesh Government’s prohibition on storing and selling Halal-certified products.

The Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, with a Halal certification unit, argues that the government’s move lacks prior notification and explores legal options.

The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind deems the decision “ridiculous and unfortunate,” asserting it infringes on citizens’ fundamental right to consume faith-permissible food.

The organizations emphasize adherence to government regulations and highlight the global demand for Halal-certified products. They view the ban as potentially discriminatory, with concerns about its impact on religious practices and community relations. The Jamiat considers legal action to counter perceived attempts at damaging its image.
