Hyderabad: Stating that urban local bodies are crucial for Telangana’s overall progress, Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the community needs of towns and cities will remain a top priority for the state government.

Addressing public meetings ahead of the February 11 urban local body elections, Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the growing importance of urban governance due to rapid urbanisation across Telangana.
Week-Long Campaign Across Urban Areas
Uttam Kumar Reddy concluded a week-long intensive election campaign, visiting several urban local bodies in Suryapet district and the Nizamabad parliamentary constituency.
During his campaign, he addressed:
- Public rallies
- Meetings with party workers
- Interactions with voters
The minister toured areas including Nizamabad Urban, Armoor, Korutla, Metpally, Suryapet town, Kodad, Tirumalgiri, Nereducherla, and Huzurnagar.
One-Third of Telangana Is Urban: Minister
The minister pointed out that more than one-third of Telangana’s population lives in urban areas, making city governance a key issue.

He said projections show that urban areas will continue to grow, playing a major role in the state’s economic and social development.
