West Asia Tensions: India Announces Visa Extension and Penalty Waiver for Foreigners
Authorities also stated that once travel routes are restored, exit permits required for foreigners to depart India will be issued free of cost. Officials clarified that if someone was unable to apply for a visa extension due to technical issues, it would not be treated as a violation of immigration rules.

New Delhi: Amid rising tensions in West Asia due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, India has announced a major relief measure for foreign nationals stranded in the country.
Because of disruptions to international flight operations caused by the conflict, many foreign travelers have been unable to leave India on time. In response, the Government of India has decided to extend visa validity and waive overstay penalties for affected individuals.
According to details released by the Consulate General of India in Dubai, visas and e-visas that have expired or are about to expire will be extended free of charge for one month. Additionally, foreign nationals who have been forced to remain in India after February 28 due to the conflict will receive a complete waiver of overstay penalties.
Authorities also stated that once travel routes are restored, exit permits required for foreigners to depart India will be issued free of cost. Officials clarified that if someone was unable to apply for a visa extension due to technical issues, it would not be treated as a violation of immigration rules.
Furthermore, foreigners whose flights are diverted to India because of airspace disruptions will also be granted temporary landing permits without any charges.
Meanwhile, around 500 Indian nationals have safely returned from Doha to Kochi and other destinations through Qatar Airways. However, flight operations remain limited as Qatar’s airspace is only partially open due to the ongoing regional tensions.
