WhatsApp ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature may get extension; Here’s how long
WhatsApp users may get two-and-a-half days to permanently delete a message
Hyderabad: ‘Delete for Everyone’ the most wanted feature of the instant messaging app WhatsApp is likely to be extended to two days and 12 hours. Presently, the feature is available for one hour, eight minutes, and 16 seconds.
If the extension is made, it would help users delete their wrongly sent messages within a longer time frame.
Gadgets 360, with reference to a report by WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, has stated that WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.410 has carried references to suggest the extension of the time limit for ‘Delete for Everyone’ to two days and 12 hours. This means that users would get two-and-a-half days to permanently delete a message. However, it is quite early to say whether WhatsApp will make the new time limit final or bring some alterations when making it public, because earlier in November last year, WhatsApp was reportedly planning to extend its time limit to more than seven days.
The existing feature to delete messages for everyone in the chat, for over one-hour time limit was introduced by WhatsApp in 2018. The feature originally had a time limit of seven minutes.
In addition to the time limit extension, WhatsApp is also likely to introduce screen for WhatsApp Communities for Android beta version 2.22.4.9. This feature would allow group admins to add groups that they manage to one place for quick access. Simultaneously they can send new announcements to all members of their groups.
