GHMC Deploys 60 Deputy Commissioners to Strengthen Civic Governance in Hyderabad

GHMC has deployed 60 Deputy Commissioners to newly formed circles in Hyderabad following the state government’s reorganisation into 12 zones, 60 circles, and 300 wards.

The GHMC has deployed 60 Deputy Commissioners across newly formed civic circles in Hyderabad to boost administrative efficiency and improve service delivery. The move follows the state government’s restructuring of zones, circles, and wards.

GHMC Takes Major Step to Improve City Administration

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has rolled out a major administrative overhaul by deploying 60 Deputy Commissioners to newly established civic circles in Hyderabad. The initiative aims to strengthen civic governance, speed up decision-making, and enhance public services across the city.

The transfers and appointments were overseen by R V Karnan, Commissioner, GHMC.

Part of State Government’s New Civic Structure

This administrative move follows the state government’s recent notification that reorganised Hyderabad’s civic setup into:

  • 12 zones
  • 60 circles
  • 300 wards

Zonal Commissioners have already been appointed for each zone, and the deployment of Deputy Commissioners is intended to operationalise the new structure at the ground level.

Immediate Charge Instructions Issued

According to official orders:

  • All 60 Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to assume charge immediately
  • Officers were transferred from 30 earlier circles and various GHMC departments
  • Each officer has been assigned a new role aligned with the revised civic map

GHMC officials said the reshuffle will help ensure better coordination, accountability, and faster grievance redressal.

Focus on Efficiency and Service Delivery

The new deployment is expected to:

  • Improve administrative efficiency
  • Strengthen local-level monitoring
  • Ensure quicker response to civic issues
  • Bring governance closer to residents

With clearly defined zones and circles, GHMC aims to deliver more transparent and citizen-focused services.

Strengthening Urban Governance in Hyderabad

Officials believe the restructuring will support Hyderabad’s growing population by creating a streamlined governance framework that can respond effectively to urban challenges.

The GHMC said the reorganisation marks an important step toward modernising civic administration and improving the overall quality of life in the city.
