Assembly Reduced to Political Blame Game, Says Kavitha; Slams Remarks Against KCR

Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha said the Assembly has turned into a political blame game and slammed CM Revanth Reddy’s remarks against KCR as an insult to Telangana.

Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Friday said that the Telangana Assembly has been reduced to political allegations, time-wasting, and symbolic activities, instead of addressing real public issues. She strongly criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his remarks comparing former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to a terrorist, calling such language an insult to Telangana itself.

Speaking to the media in Hyderabad, Kavitha said the tone and conduct of the Chief Minister were unbecoming of a democratic leader.

Meeting With Council Chairman Over Resignation

Kavitha said she met G Sukhender Reddy, Chairman of the Legislative Council, to discuss the pending approval of her resignation as an MLC.

Key points from the meeting:

  • Resignation submitted four months ago
  • Approval still pending
  • Demand to allow her to speak in the Council before acceptance
  • Chairman assured her of an opportunity on January 5 or 6

She said she would use the opportunity to clearly explain the reasons behind her resignation before the public.

‘My Blood Boiled After Hearing Those Words’

Reacting strongly to the Chief Minister’s comments, Kavitha said she was deeply hurt by references to “hanging” and by comparisons made against KCR.

She stated:

  • Such language does not suit a constitutional position
  • The CM must immediately change his tone and behaviour
  • Telangana was formed only because of the movement led by KCR

According to her, insulting the architect of the Telangana movement amounts to insulting the state itself.

Serious Allegations on Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project

Kavitha also made strong statements on the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project, claiming that not even one acre has received water in the last 12 years.

She rejected allegations that the BRS delayed the project and raised questions such as:

  • Why was the intake point changed?
  • Who is responsible for the failure of the first package?
  • Why are the same individuals being given key posts again?

She said only KCR could explain the real facts on the floor of the Assembly.

Questions on Other Irrigation Projects

Kavitha further questioned the condition of other major projects including:

  • Bhima
  • Nettempadu
  • Sundilla
  • Kalwakurthy

She said these projects are neither supplying full water nor receiving funds for basic maintenance, while excuses are being given to the public.

‘Assembly Must Serve Public Interest’

In her concluding remarks, Kavitha said the Medigadda barrage was kept dry for two years, causing injustice to thousands of farmers, and now contracts are being discussed in the name of repairs.

She warned that if KCR does not speak in the Assembly, BRS itself will face serious consequences, and stressed that public representatives must put facts before the House in the interest of Telangana.

Once again, she urged the Chief Minister to change his language, saying that comparing KCR to a terrorist is unacceptable and damages the dignity of the state.
