Hyderabad: The Amjad Ali Khan Memorial Moot Court Competition 2026 concluded on a grand and inspiring note at Sultan-Ul-Uloom College of Law, marking the successful culmination of a three-day national-level legal event held from April 16 to 18.
Organised by the college’s Moot Court Committee, the competition drew participation from law students across India, providing a platform to demonstrate advocacy, research, and analytical skills. This year’s moot proposition dealt with key contemporary issues in international law, including consular access, fair trial rights, and national security, with the dispute set before the International Court of Justice.
The competition featured multiple rounds, including preliminaries, quarter-finals, semi-finals, final round, and a researcher’s test. Participants were evaluated by a distinguished panel comprising senior advocates, corporate legal professionals, academicians, and mediators, ensuring a rigorous and practice-oriented assessment.
The final round was adjudicated by Justice M K Jaiswal and V Raghunath. The valedictory ceremony was graced by Justice Surepalli Nanda and Justice Gouse Meera Mohiuddin, adding prestige to the occasion.
Among the dignitaries present were Shreesha Merla and N Venkateswarlu. Osmania University played a key role in the competition, with its University College of Law emerging as the overall winner.

The University College of Law, Osmania University secured the first position, winning a cash prize of ₹25,000 along with a trophy and certificate. Pendekanti Law College finished as runner-up, receiving ₹15,000 and a trophy. The Best Researcher award went to a participant from Pendekanti Law College, while the Best Memorial award was bagged by Islamia College of Law.
Individual honours included Best Speaker (Male) awarded to a participant from ICFAI Law School, and Best Speaker (Female) to a participant from University College of Law, Osmania University.
Speakers at the event emphasised the importance of moot courts in shaping legal acumen, enhancing research skills, and building resilience among students. Justice Surepalli Nanda highlighted the role of legal education in fostering social transformation, urging students to become not only skilled lawyers but also compassionate individuals.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Moot Court Coordinator Mrs. V.B. Malleswari, followed by the National Anthem, leaving a lasting academic impact on all participants.
