KPHB Temple Theft Solved: Police Recover ₹26 Lakh Worth Ornaments, Interstate Gang Arrested

Kukatpally police cracked the KPHB temple theft case, arrested five accused, and recovered ₹26 lakh worth of gold, silver, and copper ornaments from an interstate gang.

Hyderabad: Kukatpally police have successfully cracked the temple theft case in KPHB Colony, recovering ornaments worth ₹26 lakh and arresting an interstate temple theft gang. The theft had taken place at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Sardar Patel Nagar, creating concern among devotees and residents.

The swift investigation and use of advanced surveillance helped police trace the accused and recover stolen valuables.

Theft at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple

The burglary occurred during the intervening night of January 6 and 7, when unknown persons broke into the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple located in Sardar Patel Nagar under KPHB limits.

According to police:

  • Thieves entered the sanctum sanctorum
  • Stole gold, silver, and copper ornaments
  • Escaped without being noticed

Following a complaint from the temple committee, a case was registered at the KPHB Police Station, and an investigation was launched.

CCTV Analysis Helped Crack the Case

Police teams examined footage from more than 200 CCTV cameras across the area. Using:

  • CCTV footage analysis
  • Technical surveillance
  • Field intelligence

the suspects were identified and tracked.

Five Arrested, Two Absconding

Police confirmed that:

  • Five accused have been arrested
  • Two more suspects are absconding
  • The gang was involved in interstate temple thefts

The main accused, Neelaya Anil, is a habitual offender with a criminal history involving more than 15 cases of property crimes and robberies, officials said.

₹26 Lakh Worth Ornaments Recovered

From the arrested accused, police seized:

  • Gold ornaments
  • Silver jewellery
  • Copper religious items

The total value of the recovered items is estimated at ₹26 lakh.

Police Statement

Speaking to the media, Ravi Kiran Reddy, Kukatpally ACP, said the case was solved through coordinated efforts, technology-driven investigation, and constant monitoring. He added that efforts are on to nab the remaining accused at the earliest.
