Addressing district-level party cadre at a preparatory meeting held in Hyderabad, Advocate Mohammed Shakeel stated that the IUML has already initiated comprehensive election preparedness measures, including organisational review, cadre mobilisation, and candidate selection processes.
“The municipal elections in Telangana are likely to be conducted very soon. In anticipation, IUML has convened a preparatory meeting to assess our election readiness and to strengthen organisational strategies at all levels,” he said.
Advocate Shakeel further informed that the party has begun receiving applications from aspiring candidates and will undertake a structured process to identify and groom suitable contestants. Emphasis, he said, is being placed on individuals who have a proven track record of social service, public welfare, and grassroots engagement.
“Our focus is not merely on contesting elections, but on nurturing capable leaders. We intend to conduct orientation and training programmes for aspirants, ensuring that they understand and carry forward the ideology of IUML — inclusive politics, secularism, social justice, and constitutional values,” he added.
The IUML State President reaffirmed that the party remains committed to protecting the rights of minorities, marginalised communities, and all sections of society, while actively contributing to transparent, accountable, and people-centric local governance.
He called upon party workers across the State to intensify outreach activities and work with dedication to strengthen IUML’s presence at the municipal level, stating that IUML is emerging as a credible and principled political force in Telangana’s local body politics.
