Hyderabad: Sindhu Hospitals on Friday felicitated eminent oncologist Dr. Nori Dattatreyudu following his conferment with the Padma Bhushan, recognising his outstanding contributions to cancer care and medical science.
The felicitation ceremony, held at Sindhu Hospitals in Hyderabad, was attended by leading doctors, researchers, and members of the medical fraternity, who gathered to celebrate Dr. Nori’s decades-long commitment to advancing oncology and improving cancer outcomes across the globe.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Parthasaradhi Reddy, Chairman of Sindhu Hospitals, described the Padma Bhushan as a moment of pride for the entire medical community.
“Dr. Nori Dattatreyudu’s Padma Bhushan is a proud moment not only for India but also for the global medical fraternity. It gives me immense pleasure to felicitate him today. My association with Dr. Nori spans over three decades, dating back to the time I decided to establish Hetero in the United States. We are privileged to have him as the Chief Advisor to Sindhu Hospitals,” Dr. Reddy said.
Dr. Nori is internationally renowned for his pioneering work in high-dose-rate brachytherapy, which has revolutionised the treatment of cancers affecting the cervix, urinary system, chest, head, and neck.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Nori reflected on the human side of healthcare and the responsibility carried by medical institutions.
“When I look at our nurses, physicians, and support staff, I do not see hospital employees; I see a safety net. These are the people who stand between illness and recovery, and between anxiety and relief,” he said.
Emphasising patient trust, he added, “Patients come to hospitals at the most vulnerable moments of their lives. They place their bodies, their secrets, and their trust in our hands. Honouring that trust means going beyond being good to becoming exceptional — through robust systems, patient safety, and science-driven care.”
The event underscored Sindhu Hospitals’ commitment to excellence in healthcare and its role in recognising leaders who have shaped modern medicine.
