Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Orders Fast-Track Paddy Procurement, Warns Collectors Over Farmer Issues

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy directed district collectors to speed up paddy procurement and corn purchases, warned against negligence, and ordered action against contractors delaying grain transport.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed district collectors to work in mission mode and complete the paddy procurement and corn purchase process rapidly across the state. During a video conference review held at the camp office in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience at procurement centers and warned that collectors would be held responsible for any problems arising during the process.

The Chief Minister reviewed the ongoing paddy procurement process and its progress with district collectors from various districts through a video conference. He sought details from collectors regarding the difficulties and issues arising in paddy procurement and corn purchases in different districts.

CM Issues Clear Orders on Paddy Procurement Process

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed district collectors to regularly send reports on procurement activities to Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao.

He said officials must continuously inspect field-level conditions at procurement centers and ensure there is no shortage of gunny bags and hamalis (load workers). He instructed officials to shift procured paddy to godowns without delay.

The Chief Minister also warned against contractors who fail to provide sufficient lorries as per agreements for transporting paddy loads.

“Contractors who fail to provide enough lorries for transporting paddy loads as per agreements should not be spared. If necessary, do not hesitate to file criminal cases against such contractors,” he said.

Instructions to Prevent Delays and Irregularities

The Chief Minister instructed officials to identify local hamalis and engage them to prevent delays in loading paddy.

He also ordered that farmers must immediately receive receipts once the paddy is loaded.

“Immediate receipts to farmers after loading will help prevent irregularities in the name of wastage and deductions,” the Chief Minister stated.

Transport Department Asked to Arrange Vehicles

Revanth Reddy directed the Transport Department Commissioner to ensure the availability of sufficient vehicles for transporting paddy.

He instructed officials to use tractors and other nearby vehicles if there is a shortage of lorries in any area.

Temporary Storage Arrangements Ordered in Areas Facing Godown Problems

The Chief Minister said reports indicated godown shortages in several areas.

He instructed district administrations to make temporary arrangements wherever necessary. He suggested using Rythu Bazaars and function halls for temporary paddy storage in areas facing warehouse shortages.

“Plans should be prepared to transport paddy from temporary locations to godowns based on convenience,” he said.

Warning Against Negligence by Officials and Collectors

The Chief Minister instructed district collectors to identify the severity of problems region-wise and take proper action accordingly.

He stressed that every official must work responsibly and warned that the government would not hesitate to take action against negligent officers and collectors.

Special Focus on Corn Procurement in High-Yield Districts

Revanth Reddy instructed collectors in districts with high corn production to remain alert regarding procurement activities.

He ordered officials to ensure that farmers do not face problems anywhere and advised collectors to seek police assistance wherever necessary to ensure smooth grain procurement operations.

Permanent Plans Suggested to Prevent Rain Damage

The Chief Minister instructed officials to prepare permanent plans to protect farmers from losses during unseasonal rains.

He directed authorities to provide tarpaulins to farmers to prevent paddy from getting wet during unexpected rainfall.

He also instructed officials to appoint a special officer at the mandal level to continuously alert farmers based on weather department advisories.

According to the Chief Minister, a dedicated system should be established to communicate weather alerts to farmers regularly.

Officials to Be Appointed at IKP Centers and Rice Mills

Revanth Reddy directed the appointment of one officer for every IKP center.

He also instructed the government to appoint a responsible officer at every rice mill for monitoring purposes.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu participated in the video conference along with ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao, Seethakka, Vakiti Srihari, Adluri Laxman Kumar, MP Vem Narender Reddy, Telangana Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, and other officials.
