MJCET Hosts AICTE ATAL-Sponsored FDP on Explainable and Generative AI for Healthcare

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSED) at Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET) has been selected by the AICTE ATAL Academy to organise a six-day National Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Explainable & Responsible AI for Healthcare: From Medical Imaging to Generative AI Systems" from July 6 to 11, 2026.

Hyderabad: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSED) at Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET) has been selected by the AICTE ATAL Academy to organise a six-day National Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Explainable & Responsible AI for Healthcare: From Medical Imaging to Generative AI Systems” from July 6 to 11, 2026.

The selection marks a significant academic achievement for the department, as its proposal was chosen from nearly 1,000 submissions received from institutions across the country, reflecting MJCET’s growing reputation in artificial intelligence research and academic excellence.

The programme was inaugurated with a welcome address by Prof. Syed Shabbeer Ahmad, Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department, who stressed the importance of transparency, accountability, and ethical practices in AI-driven healthcare.

The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. S. Srinivas Rao, Principal of MJCET, in the presence of Prof. Hamraj, Dean (Academics), Prof. Syed Ferhathullah Hussainy, Dean of Students Affairs, Mr. Narasimha Rao, Registrar, and heads of various departments.

Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Jabbar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) at Vardhaman College of Engineering, highlighted the transformative potential of Explainable AI and Responsible AI in healthcare. He encouraged faculty members to pursue interdisciplinary research to address emerging challenges in medical technology.

Dr. Syeda Fouzia Sayeedunnisa, Associate Professor, Associate Head of CSED, and Co-Coordinator of the FDP, outlined the objectives of the programme and emphasised the need to integrate responsible AI practices into teaching, research, and healthcare innovation.

The faculty development programme has attracted participants from engineering institutions across Telangana. Over the course of six days, attendees will participate in expert lectures, hands-on technical sessions, and interactive discussions led by renowned academicians and industry professionals, providing insights into the latest developments in explainable AI, medical imaging, and generative AI applications in healthcare.

The department expressed its gratitude to the AICTE ATAL Academy for sponsoring the programme and acknowledged the continued support of the MJCET management and administration. Organisers said the initiative reinforces the institution’s commitment to advancing research, innovation, faculty development, and responsible adoption of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
