Hyderabad: The Attapur Police Station arrested one habitual offender in connection with an attention diversion gold chain theft and organized crime case. Police recovered four stolen gold chains linked to multiple cases, while three other accused remain absconding. The theft involving a 1.25 tulas gold chain was committed on October 16, 2025, at Aramghar Bus Stand, Rajendranagar, police said.

Accused Persons Identified
The arrested and absconding accused have been identified as:
- A1: Hathakade Vishal, S/o Late H. Bharath @ Yuvaraj, 25 years, Occupation: Band Master, Resident of H.No. 1-2-183/3/A, Mangar Basthi, Afzal Sagar, Mallepally, Hyderabad.
- A2: Ravi (Absconding)
- A3: Jahangir (Absconding)
- A4: Shyam Sunder (Absconding)
According to police, A1 was arrested, while efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining three accused.
Gold Chains Seized by Attapur Police
Police recovered the following stolen property:
- One gold chain weighing about 9.5 grams – Crime No. 871/2025, registered under Sections 318(4), 305(a) BNS of Attapur Police Station.
- One gold chain weighing about 5.0 grams – Crime No. 692/2025, registered under Sections 318(4), 305(a) BNS of Attapur Police Station.
- One gold chain weighing about 4.8 grams – Crime No. 684/2025, registered under Sections 318(4), 305(a) BNS of Attapur Police Station.
- One gold chain weighing about 10.4 grams – Crime No. 544/2025, registered under Sections 318(4), 305(a) BNS of Attapur Police Station.
Complainant Details
The complainant is Sri Gajula Sathish Kumar, S/o Krishnaiah, 45 years, a businessman residing at Plot No. 19, Sathya Enclave, Bandlaguda Jagir, Gandipet, Ranga Reddy District.
How the Theft Was Committed
According to the police, this is a case of “Attention Diversion (Theft of Gold Chain) & Organized Crime.” The offence took place on October 16, 2025, at about 9:45 AM at Aramghar Bus Stand, Rajendranagar, which falls under the limits of Attapur Police Station, Hyderabad.
Police said A1 to A4 are habitual offenders previously involved in property offences. A1 had earlier been remanded to judicial custody and was later released on bail.
The accused allegedly became friends and developed bad habits. They organized themselves into a group to commit gold chain thefts by diverting the attention of innocent passengers at Aramghar X Road Bus Stand to meet their lavish expenses and unlawful financial needs.
On the day of the offence, the accused allegedly hatched a plan near Pillar No. 143, Attapur, where they boarded a bus and noticed complainant Gajula Sathish Kumar wearing a gold chain.
When the complainant was standing on the footboard to get down at Aramghar, A2 and A3 allegedly blocked him from alighting by obstructing his movement, while A4 and A1 pushed him forward to divert his attention. Taking advantage of the situation, A1 allegedly widened the hook of the complainant’s gold chain with his hand and stole it.
After committing the theft, the accused fled from the spot. Police said they intended to sell the stolen gold chain later and share the proceeds among themselves.
Legal Sections Invoked
Police stated that a prima facie case has been established against A1 to A4 for offences punishable under:
- Section 318(4) BNS
- Section 305(a) BNS
- Section 111 BNS
Police said all four accused acted together in an organized manner to commit the gold chain theft.
