New Musi Bridge at Musarambagh–Amberpet to Ease Traffic and Flood Disruptions

Hyderabad commuters, particularly those travelling between Musarambagh and Amberpet, are set to get major relief as the construction of a new bridge across the Musi River is nearing completion.

The new bridge, being constructed at an estimated cost of ₹52 crore, is around 220 metres long. Officials are making arrangements to open the bridge to the public by the end of this month.

Old Bridge Had Become a Major Concern

The existing bridge between Musarambagh and Amberpet had reportedly deteriorated over the years. During the monsoon, commuters faced difficulties as rising water levels in the Musi River affected movement along the route.

The situation became particularly challenging when the gates of Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs were lifted, resulting in an increase in the flow of water in the Musi.

At times, floodwater would flow over the old bridge, disrupting traffic and creating difficulties for motorists.

New Bridge Built at a Higher Level

To address the recurring problem, the new bridge has been constructed at a higher elevation than the old bridge.

The higher structure is expected to reduce the risk of floodwater flowing over the bridge during heavy rainfall and increased water discharge into the Musi River.
