Hyderabad: A 30-year-old man was brutally hacked to death in front of Rameshwaram Cafe at Ayyappa Society in Madhapur on Wednesday, allegedly over a stalking and harassment dispute.
The victim, identified as Bhaskar, was working as a cook at Sri Cinnamon Hotel in Madhapur. He was a native of Upparapalli village in Warangal district.
According to police, two sisters from Warangal had earlier filed a complaint at the Warangal Women’s Police Station, alleging that Bhaskar had been stalking them in the name of love and repeatedly harassing them over the phone. Despite police counseling, the harassment allegedly continued.
Police said the sisters later informed their father, Raju, that Bhaskar was still troubling them. When Raju contacted him, Bhaskar allegedly challenged him to come to Hyderabad.
Following the confrontation, Raju, accompanied by his brother-in-law Kumaraswamy, allegedly came to Hyderabad and attacked Bhaskar with sticks and knives in front of Rameshwaram Cafe.
Bhaskar sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Madhapur Police shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital for a postmortem examination and registered a case. An investigation is underway to trace and arrest the accused.
