According to HYDRAA, Ramanthapur Pedda Cheruvu has an FTL area of 30 acres, of which nearly 16 acres had been encroached upon.

As part of the drive, HYDRAA removed:

  • A G+2 commercial building under construction spread over 1,900 square yards.
  • An auto garage spread over 280 square yards.

With this action, a total of 2,180 square yards was brought back within the FTL limits of Ramanthapur Pedda Cheruvu.

According to the press note, families living in temporary huts around the lake used to face severe hardship every year when the lake filled during the monsoon, as their huts were prone to flooding.

The residents, many of whom earn their livelihood through garbage collection and daily wage labour, were recommended by HYDRAA for double-bedroom houses.

The press note stated that the government responded positively to the recommendation and took steps to give priority to the allotment of these houses.
