Harish Rao Alleges Revanth Government Is Handing Over ₹500-Crore Oilfed Land for ₹87 Crore

Hyderabad: BRS senior leader and former minister T. Harish Rao has alleged that the Telangana government is attempting to hand over more than 3.5 acres of valuable land belonging to the state-run Oilfed in Hyderabad to a private party at a significantly lower value.

In an open letter addressed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Harish Rao alleged that the government has taken a decision concerning Plot No. 1 in the Ajmabad Industrial Area, located opposite the RTC Bus Building at RTC Cross Roads in Hyderabad.

Harish Rao claimed that the land is worth around ₹500 crore, but the Industries Department has decided to hand it over to a private individual for approximately ₹87 crore, which he alleged would result in a major loss to the state exchequer.

He further alleged that Oilfed, a government institution, was prepared to pay ₹87 crore for the land, but despite this, the government chose to favour a private party instead.

The BRS leader also claimed that Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao was unaware of the decision, raising questions over the manner in which the land-related decision was taken.

Harish Rao demanded that the Telangana government immediately withdraw its decision regarding the land under Oilfed’s control. He warned that the BRS would launch a protest if the government failed to reverse the decision.

In his letter, Harish Rao questioned the government’s rationale for transferring valuable public land at what he described as a substantially lower price and demanded transparency in the entire process.

The allegations have added another political flashpoint between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS over the use and disposal of government land in Hyderabad.

The Telangana government and the Industries Department have not yet issued a detailed response to Harish Rao’s allegations.
