Mulugu: Students at a Girijan Girls’ Residential School in Venkatapuram Mandal of Mulugu district have reportedly expressed distress over the lack of drinking water and basic facilities at the institution.

The school, located next to the ITDA College in the Venkatapuram mandal headquarters, is facing serious water-related problems, according to the students. They alleged that there is not enough drinking water and that they are being forced to use water meant for washing clothes for their daily needs.

The students also complained about inadequate washroom facilities, with wastewater reportedly overflowing from the washrooms and creating unhygienic conditions on the premises.

Some students, visibly distressed, alleged that when they approached the principal and staff to raise concerns about the water shortage, their complaints were ignored. They further alleged that they were threatened and that the principal was often unavailable, while some staff members allegedly behaved rudely with them.

The students claimed that they had raised the issue several times but that no effective measures had been taken to resolve the problems. They said the lack of drinking water, proper toilets and other basic amenities was making life difficult at the residential school.

Parents have also reportedly expressed anger over the situation, questioning how tribal and Girijan girls could be left without basic facilities in the district represented by Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka.

The allegations have raised concerns about the condition of government-run residential schools and the availability of essential facilities for tribal students. Authorities are expected to look into the complaints and take necessary steps to address the students’ grievances.
