ABVP Nominates First Muslim Woman Candidate for University of Hyderabad Student Union President


Hyderabad: In the upcoming University of Hyderabad (UoH) student union elections on November 9, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has nominated its first Muslim woman candidate for president, Shaik Ayesha. She hails from Visakhapatnam and is currently pursuing a PhD in Chemistry.

Ayesha will be competing against Mohammed Ateeq Ahmed, another PhD student running for the student election under the SFI-ASA-TSF alliance.

The ABVP Hyderabad Central University Unit has also released the names of its other candidates for the upcoming elections. The

ABVP is participating in the polls in conjunction with Seva Lal Vidyarthi Dal (SLVD), an organization focused on the welfare of the tribal community at the university.

Out of nine student candidates, three are female on the ABVP panel.

Mrs. Aaesha is vying for the ABVP’s presidential position. Tarun Kumar, a research scholar from the School of Physics, is contesting for the vice-president post. Rajesh Palia, a research scholar from the School of Economics, is running for the role of general secretary. Rathod Vasanth Kumar, an Integrated MA student of Political Science, is competing for the joint secretary position as a representative of SLVD. Antony Basumatary, a research scholar from the Department of Philosophy, is in the running for the post of Cultural Secretary. Jwala Prasad, an Integrated MA student of Hindi, is in contention for the sports secretary position.
