BRS Leader Says Orders to Remove HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath Are Justified

Hyderabad: A political controversy has erupted over the Telangana High Court’s observations against the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) authorities, with a BRS leader stating that the orders seeking the removal of HYDRA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath are justified.

The leader alleged that government officials, rather than the courts, were responsible for misleading the judiciary and said the recent observations of the High Court indirectly countered Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks that courts were making mistakes.

The issue relates to a petition filed by Sudharani, a woman who approached the Telangana High Court alleging that HYDRA officials had illegally entered her 350-square-yard private property in Survey No. 60 at Kondapur in Serilingampally mandal and demolished the compound wall without serving any notice.

During an earlier hearing, HYDRA reportedly informed the court that the demolition had been carried out based on orders issued by the Tahsildar. However, when the Tahsildar appeared before the court pursuant to its directions, she stated that she had not issued any such orders.

The Tahsildar reportedly clarified that the demolition had taken place on private land in Survey No. 60, whereas the orders issued by her related only to government land in Survey No. 58.

The discrepancy prompted strong observations from the judge, who questioned HYDRA officials over the alleged encroachment on private property and the explanation provided to the court.

The court questioned why HYDRA had acted with such urgency and whether officials could not have waited until notices were issued. The judge also questioned the authority under which demolitions were allegedly carried out on private land and whether any external pressure was influencing the officials.

The BRS leader welcomed the court’s observations and the reported orders concerning the removal of HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath. He alleged that government institutions and officials were attempting to mislead the court and said that blaming the judiciary for such discrepancies was inappropriate.

The leader also questioned whether HYDRA was functioning like a parallel government by carrying out demolitions without adequate accountability or consideration of legal procedures and court directions.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing petition filed by Sudharani, the High Court has adjourned the matter to August 8 and directed that HYDRA should not enter the disputed property until further orders.

The allegations and observations are part of ongoing judicial proceedings, and the court is yet to give a final ruling on the underlying property dispute.
