CM Revanth orders judicial inquiry into irregularities in power sector during BRS tenure

Intervening in a discussion on power sector in the Assembly, the Chief Minister alleged that the previous government had committed large-scale corruption in the power sector, and it did not disclose the facts to the people during its nine- and half-year rule.

Hyderabad: Reiterating that the previous BRS government never supplied 24-hour power supply to agriculture sector and moreover, it was involved in large scale corruption in the power sector, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced in the Assembly that his government was ready for a judicial inquiry into the irregularities in the purchase of electricity from Chhattisgarh, Bhadradri Power Plant and Yadadri Power Plant.

Intervening in a discussion on power sector in the Assembly, the Chief Minister alleged that the previous government had committed large-scale corruption in the power sector, and it did not disclose the facts to the people during its nine- and half-year rule.

Revanth Reddy informed that he has accepted the challenge of former minister G Jagadish Reddy who demanded a judicial inquiry to establish the facts that the previous government was completely transparent in power sector.

“BRS leaders are under the impression of that they counter attacked the State government. The Congress government has scanned the entire Energy department and is now presenting the facts in the House. The previous BRS government should accept the facts in a dignified manner,” he said.

Revanth Reddy stated that the previous government entered Chhattisgarh agreement without tenders and Opposition MLAs were thrown out of the Assembly by Marshals for fighting on Chhattisgarh agreement. Moreover, official was demoted and posted in the remote area for releasing the facts on Chhattisgarh agreement, he reminded.

“The previous government entered agreement with Chhattisgarh for 1000 MW power supply. Due to this agreement, the State government is now incurring the burden of Rs 1362 crores. Moreover, the previous government had signed with an outdated company to establish Yadadri Thermal Power Project. The company used the expired sub – critical technology and incurred huge losses to the government.

Thousands of crores of corruption took place in the Yadadri power project. Similarly, there was a large-scale corruption involved in the execution of Bhadradri Thermal Power Project,”Revanth Reddy pointed out.

“I am saying from the Assembly that I will order the judicial inquiry into corruption in Chhattisgarh agreements, Bhadradri and Yadadri power projects. Moreover, the government will constitute a fact-finding committee with all parties on 24-hour power supply,” the Chief Minister said.
