Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer Ronald Rose directed the counting staff to perform their duties efficiently to ensure that the process for the Lok Sabha elections was conducted smoothly and transparently.
As part of the Lok Sabha elections, training classes on the counting process were conducted for micro-observers, counting supervisors, counting assistants and AROs at Komaram Bheem Adivasi Bhavan in Banjara Hills on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ronald Rose said the counting staff should carry out the counting of votes effectively and added that a total of 16 counting centres had been set up in the district for the counting of votes. He also said the counting of votes would be done segment-wise and added that the counting of votes would begin at 8 am.
He said the officials should follow Election Commission rules without giving any scope for mistakes. “If any technical problem arises in the EVMs during the counting of votes, the concerned experts will be available for rectifying them,” he said.
The DEO also said as per the EC directions, 14 tables were being arranged in each hall for counting of votes in all segments and added that counting would be done in different rounds. “Each table will have a micro-observer, a counting supervisor and a counting assistant,” he said.
He suggested to inform the ARO if there is any problem in the counting process. He also clarified that mobile phones should not be allowed inside the counting hall. He urged them to follow the rules and perform their duties with transparency and commitment.
Hyderabad District Collector and Returning Officer Anudeep Durisetty explained the process of counting of VVPAT slips and counting of postal ballots. Each of the counting staff has been asked to perform their duties carefully.
Hyderabad District Additional Collector, Secunderabad Returning Officer Hemant Keshav Patil, Secunderabad Cantonment Joint CEO, Additional Commissioner (UBD) District Election Training Nodal Officer Sunanda Rani, AROs, Micro Observers, Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants, etc. participated in the program.
