Crisis in Telangana’s Real Estate Market Continues Amid Musi Project and HYDRA Demolition Drive
Last October, the state generated 1,219 crore through the Stamps and Registration Department, while this year, the amount fell to 795 crore. This drop in registrations has led to a 34% decrease in revenue and an 18% decline in transaction volume.
Hyderabad: The real estate sector in Telangana is facing significant challenges, with recent natural calamities and proposed structural changes in the Musi project disrupting the market. Over the last three months, this sector has been in a downward spiral, leading to a decline in state revenue. Compared to October last year, the Stamps and Registration Department has recorded nearly ₹400 crore less revenue this October.
Real estate insiders report that the market slowdown is partly due to the government’s lack of new development projects. Unbalanced policies and certain new initiatives have further hindered the sector. As a result, property prices and transactions for homes and plots have stagnated, with a noticeable drop in sales.

To address the consistent decline in revenue, the government has formed a sub-committee to explore solutions. However, registration officials have expressed concern, attributing the market’s sluggishness to the current government policies.
Real estate business leaders warn that without immediate government intervention, the sector could face further downturns. They are calling on the government to take swift action and introduce measures to support the struggling market.
