Deputation of 25 Forest Department Officials Cancelled Despite Ministers’ Recommendations

Hyderabad: A controversy has emerged in Telangana’s Forest Department after Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Vinay Kumar allegedly cancelled the deputations of 25 officers and staff members despite recommendations from Forest Minister Konda Surekha and several senior ministers and public representatives.

According to sources, the affected officials had sought deputation to other locations or departments citing local circumstances and family-related reasons. Their requests were reportedly supported by Forest Minister Konda Surekha, Ministers D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Jupally Krishna Rao, Tummala Nageswara Rao, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, and MLAs Chikkudu Vamshi Krishna and Sanjay.

The deputations had earlier been approved by former PCCF Suvarna. However, after assuming charge on June 30, the new PCCF, Vinay Kumar, is said to have cancelled all 25 deputation orders.

Sources claim that Forest Minister Konda Surekha later instructed that the cancelled deputations be restored and that the recommended officers be allowed to proceed on deputation. However, the orders were allegedly not implemented.

The issue has sparked political and administrative discussions, with speculation in official circles that the refusal to act despite ministerial recommendations indicates the possibility of backing from influential quarters. However, no official statement has been issued by the PCCF or the state government regarding these allegations.

The matter has raised questions about administrative decision-making and coordination between the Forest Department and the state government’s leadership.
