Hyderabad: Renowned breast cancer surgeon Dr P. Raghu Ram, along with the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation and the KIMS-USHALAKSHMI Centre for Breast Diseases, has achieved a new Guinness World Records title for hosting the largest audience at an interactive AI-enabled holographic health awareness lecture.
The achievement marks Dr Raghu Ram’s third Guinness World Records recognition within a span of 15 months and highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence and immersive technology in healthcare education.
The record-setting event featured an AI-generated holographic version of Dr Raghu Ram delivering a 30-minute lecture on breast health awareness, followed by a multilingual interactive question-and-answer session. The AI-powered educator provided evidence-based information on breast cancer and benign breast conditions, while responding to audience queries in English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
The Guinness World Records title was awarded under a newly introduced category recognising innovation in AI-enabled holographic health education. The initiative aims to improve breast health literacy, reduce stigma surrounding breast diseases, encourage early medical consultation and make reliable healthcare information more accessible to the public.
The occasion also witnessed the launch of NARI (National Awareness & Resource Initiative for Breast Health), an AI-enabled digital platform designed to provide round-the-clock access to trusted information on breast health, breast cancer, screening and early detection. The multilingual platform allows users to interact with an AI-powered avatar of Dr Raghu Ram and receive educational guidance in multiple Indian languages.
Speaking at the event, Dr Raghu Ram dedicated the achievement to his late mother, Dr Ushalakshmi, a distinguished gynaecologist and breast cancer survivor whose journey inspired the establishment of the Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation.
“Our objective is to democratise access to credible breast health information, reduce fear and stigma, promote early detection and empower women through knowledge. This Guinness World Records recognition is a platform to amplify an important public health message and showcase the potential of technology in making healthcare education accessible to everyone,” he said.
The event was attended by National Medical Commission Chairman Dr Abhijat Sheth, who lauded the initiative as a significant step towards strengthening health literacy through responsible use of artificial intelligence.
KIMS Hospitals Chairman Dr Bhaskar Rao also praised the effort, stating that the initiative demonstrates how technology can be leveraged effectively to create meaningful social impact and improve public health awareness.
The Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation has been at the forefront of breast cancer awareness and screening initiatives for nearly two decades, while the KIMS-USHALAKSHMI Centre for Breast Diseases, established in 2007, remains South Asia’s first comprehensive centre dedicated exclusively to breast disease management and breast cancer care.
